Contract Name: Arctic Ermine
Type: Animal
Specimen: Weasel
Culture/Lore: The Arctic Ermine live within Lands of everlasting winter, Yuki-no-Kuni, but are not shy of venturing into foreign lands. Brave and naughty, they are born and bred bandits finding, hunting or stealing food for their survival but remain otherwise generally harmless to others as long as they do not feel threatened. Those who invoke their wrath will find the ermines rather vehement and vicious, refusing to back down even when the odds are stacked against them. The size of their opponent truly doesn't matter for this small but tedious predator. Additionally, they thrive well in chaotic environments, caring little for rules that hamper their personal way of getting the job done, often giving them a cock-sure, rogue-like attitude.
On average, males measure 187–325 mm (7.4–12.8 in) in body length, while females measure 170–270 mm (6.7–10.6 in). The tail measures 75–120 mm (3.0–4.7 in) in males and 65–106 mm (2.6–4.2 in) in females. Males average 258 grams (9.1 oz) in weight, while females weigh less than 180 grams (6.3 oz).
Their fur, white in Yuki-no-Kuni, turns to brown when not suffering the snow, hinting not only at their strong sense of adaptability but also their talent for camouflage. Along with a sharp sight, good nose and keen hearing, it makes them an ideal creature for sensory jobs.
Element(s): Water
Designated Skill: Sensory
Summoning Method: An inkling of blood to rouse the interest of this arctic hunter, along with a sharp whistle to call their attention.
Requirements:
- Ill Omen: The ermine require their summoner to have a brave heart and the ability to kill without hesitation as Weasels have often been seen as signs of ill omen. As a sign the shinobi is willing to enforce death above life, they may never learn the Ijutsu skill.
- Renegades: Their chaotic rogue-like lifestyle makes them despise those abiding by a lawful approach. Not wanting to deal with summoners that abide by the book, summoners may never be of lawful alignment.
Drawbacks: With a natural inclination towards chaos, the ermines are rather short-tempered, and easily taunted into or captivated by rising trouble. 'Controlled chaos' is a term the Summoner will have to learn fast.
