Zurui trudged through the woods, seeking his prey. Only a few minutes in, and he spotted it. A deer, gentle and graceful, feeding upon the forest's lush grass. It seemed that the wyrm wasn't doing too much damage to the area, else the wildlife would've abandoned these parts. It was lucky for him.
A brief movement caught his attention. From within a nearby tree, somebody was moving. Zurui looked to that person, and they looked back. Then they looked to the deer. Zurui followed with his gaze and suddenly put two and two together. They were going to steal his deer!
The Jounin unleashed a shuriken as quick as he could. With three solid thuds, the creature went down without any chance for escape. Zurui rushed to its side, and there he met the Anbu squad.
"Sorry bud, this one's ours." A tall, built man spoke from behind his animal mask.
"Like hell it is. I saw it first!" Came the, in hindsight, childish response from the masked Jounin.
"Hey, it's okay. Both of you killed it, but maybe you can let us have it. "Replied a shorter masked woman. "We need it as bait to draw out a big creature in these parts that's been terrorizing the locals."
"Ah, then our goals align. I'm from the Hidden Mist and I've been partnered up with a Chuunin from your village to kill that creature." Zurui said, relieved that this argument would go no further.
"Ah, so you're one of the guys that unleashed that thing." Accused the masked man.
Zurui couldn't help but pout his lips behind his mask. It was true, and he really didn't have a response to it. "Well, maybe we can work toge-"
He was suddenly cut off when the ground beneath the deer erupted with the gaping maw of the wyrm. The Anbu all rushed out of the way but Zurui, being less...physically inclined, was caught up with the deer. One swift crunch and his ribs were cracked. You wanna talk about pain? He couldn't even manage a scream it hurt so bad. He was lucky the Anbu attacked it on site and forced it to flee, else he would've been killed and eaten by the thing.
The Anbu jumped back to his side and the woman immediately began applying healing energy to Zurui. He was shaking with the pain, but she at least managed to stabilize him. "I won't be able to fix him completely," she started, "he'll need to be taken to a proper facility."
The taller man, left of the group of five, considered the situation. "A Kiri Jounin was supposed to be assigned to this area. If he's here with one of our Chuunin, then it's probably him." He reasoned. With an alliance between their villages, it would be beneficial to have this man patched up in Konoha, to solidify the alliance. He may have to be transported to Kiri for long term recovery, but the immediate procedure would look very good on Konoha if they completed it. Otherwise, he'd probably have a long, uncomfortable hobble back home.
"Kobo, take him to the Konoha Hospital." He said. They could spare one man and still continue the mission, though it may be harder now that the wyrm had been wounded. It would be less likely to come out until its wounds healed, and it would probably fight like a cornered animal.
Kobo scooped up Zurui and mad a run for the village, leaving his four comrades to deal with the monster. He, too, was certain they could pull it off.
